💉How to Use Prefilled Pens

Step-by-step guide to administering peptide prefilled pens (30mg in 3ml, 10 clicks = 1mg).

What You Need

  • Prefilled peptide pen (e.g. 30mg in 3ml cartridge)
  • New pen needle (use a fresh one for each injection)
  • Alcohol swab
  • Sharps bin for safe needle disposal

Step 1: Prepare the Pen

  • Check the pen label to confirm the product and expiry date. Ensure the solution is clear and has been stored as directed (typically refrigerated).
  • Remove the pen cap. Attach a new pen needle by screwing it firmly onto the pen. Remove the outer and inner needle caps.
  • Prime the pen if required: dial 2–3 clicks, point the needle up, and press the button until a drop appears at the needle tip. This removes air from the needle.

Step 2: Set Your Dose

  • These pens contain 30mg in 3ml. On this pen, 10 clicks = 1mg. The pen can deliver up to 80 clicks (8mg) per injection.
  • Examples: 0.5mg = 5 clicks, 1mg = 10 clicks, 2mg = 20 clicks, 5mg = 50 clicks, 8mg = 80 clicks.
  • Dial your chosen dose using the dose selector. Confirm the number in the dose window matches your intended dose before injecting.

Step 3: Choose Injection Site and Inject

  • Subcutaneous (under the skin) sites: abdomen (avoid navel), front or side of thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites to avoid lumps or irritation.
  • Clean the skin with an alcohol swab and let it dry. Pinch a fold of skin if needed (especially for thinner arms).
  • Insert the needle at a 90° angle (or 45° if you are very thin) into the skin. Press the dose button fully and hold the pen in place for a few seconds (e.g. 5–10 seconds) after the dose is delivered.
  • Remove the needle from the skin, then release the button. You may see a drop at the needle tip; this is normal.

Step 4: After Injection

  • Unscrew the needle and dispose of it in a sharps bin. Do not recap the needle. Never reuse a pen needle.
  • Replace the pen cap and store the pen as directed (usually in the fridge). Keep the pen out of direct light.
  • Rotate injection sites each time to reduce soreness and allow the skin to recover.
